Gabrielle Ong is a Filipino-born Chinese student in her first year of the International Baccalaureate (iB) at the British School Manila (BSM) in the Philippines.
As a recent alumnus of the Yale Young Global Scholars program, she gained a deeper appreciation for AI and its implications on global affairs. At school, Gabrielle is the Vice-President of the Brand for TEDxBritishSchoolManila, and the Founder and President of the Special Olympics-affiliated BSM Unified Club. During her internship at Uber, Gabrielle led her team to success in the final pitch competition.
In March of 2023, she launched her own social enterprise called BLUEPRINT (YOU)TH which tackles the uncertainty of the job market by equipping youth with vital, transferable soft skills through a two-week course involving expert-led workshops from around the world. Gabrielle recently presented at YOUNGA 2022 about the launch of BLUEPRINT (YOU)TH and how this initiative engaged in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Gabrielle has been actively involved in sports namely basketball, swimming and football, competing domestically and overseas in Sweden and Paris. Additionally, Gabrielle is an avid musician, completing her Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Grade 6 Voice exams, acting in Matilda the Musical in Manila, as well as receiving awards from global music festivals in Canada, the UK and Vienna.
Looking ahead, Gabrielle aims to pursue economics on an interdisciplinary basis to drive the systems change she wishes to see.
